Moonshine Inc. – Review
I had the chance to speak with a Klabator team member via video call. There is cause for optimism because Moonshine Inc. is being updated and improved actively. Here are my impressions after playing for a few more hours and progressing through Chapter 2 roughly halfway, even though my impression of the game is still mixed.
We came here because of the character and soul of this game, and learning new recipes is usually a simple and enjoyable procedure. Without the failure of error, it is trial and error. I experiment with different ingredient combinations and ask “What else can I make?” with each new batch. Is it possible for me to create anything new? Or am I getting near but won’t get any more technology till the following chapter? This journey of discovery, in my opinion, is the highlight of the game. Along with the voice tune that occasionally plays in the store. I’ll typically stay in the store longer if that music is playing just to listen and enjoy the vibe.
The game’s UI might use some work, and the learning curve is quite high at first. Like me, you probably have no prior knowledge of the production of alcoholic beverages, and it takes some time to get used to the game’s extensive use of sliders and steps. In the early game, there is a lot to remember, but the intricacy is supposed to allow fine-tuning. Fortunately, Klabator prioritises UI enhancements, so I’m hoping the upcoming version simplifies things.
There is downtime during gameplay even though the passage of time in the game appropriately depicts the fermentation and distillation processes. I’m either pausing time or speeding it up by eight. The majority of gameplay is spent simply waiting for the next batch, while there are occasionally things to do like hire workers, buy for ingredients, or maintain my base. Furthermore, using an older computer or for those who choose to record/stream gaming footage may find running at that 8x speed to be exhausting.
As I previously stated, there are good reasons to be hopeful about Moonshine Inc.’s future, but things are still up in the air right now. If you’re curious, put a reminder on your calendar to come back and see how updates have handled it in a month.
