SEGA developing big-budget Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio reboots

SEGA is developing “big-budget reboots” of its Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio games in pursuit of global hits like Epic Games‘ popular Fortnite, according to a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the matter.

The two titles, which would be released in two to three years, would be the first entries in the “Super Game” initiative announced by SEGA in May 2021. The initiative is an effort to develop recurring revenue sources and build online communities around the company’s existing intellectual properties.

In November 2021, SEGA announced a strategic alliance with Microsoft to produce large-scale, global games in a next-generation development environment built on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, allowing it to move forward with its “Super Game” initiative to develop new and innovative titles focused on “global,” “online,” “community,” and “IP utilization.”
