The release of the AMD Radeon RX 6600 graphics card comes at an odd time for graphics cards in general. There is a global silicon shortage that has made it nearly impossible to get your hands on any of AMD or Nvidia’s greatest devices in a decade, let alone the price that the manufacturer truly intended. A budget graphics card that more people can actually afford and install in their PCs, especially those with older GPUs, has been left lacking.
Pricing
Depending on which aftermarket GPU manufacturer you choose, the AMD Radeon RX 6600 will start at $329 (around Rs 31k INR after Tax). AMD isn’t marketing this as a high-end showstopper, but rather as a graphics card for playing the latest games at 1080p, which is understandable given that this is the most common resolution for gaming consoles and desktop computers.With a peak bandwidth of 224GB/s, this card is still more than adequate for 1080p resolutions, even though it’s slower than the 6600 XT’s 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM on a 128-bit bus. The RX 6600 has the same RDNA 2 architecture as the Radeon RX 6600 XT and is hence a scaled-down version of that card. AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT The 6600 XT had 32 Compute Units; this model only has 28. In total, you get 1,792 Stream Processors and 28 Ray Accelerators, which is a total of 1,792.
Performance
The Radeon RX 6600 is being marketed by AMD as a 1080p graphics card, and in general, it is. Even in the most demanding games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Metro Exodus, the graphics card was able to maintain a steady 60 frames per second in the majority of our tests. Furthermore, games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Death Stranding also run without a problem and will give you a great experience.
